Improvisation in Medical field through PACS Imaging
PACS stands for Picture Archiving and Communication System. PACS Imaging is simply taking the X-Rays, MRIs etc on digital films so that the doctor sitting in another room can immediately view the results of your diagnosis. This is basically a time saver compared to the old traditional method in which you had to wait for an hour or more to get your X-Ray report and then go back to your doctor for further consultation based upon the report. With PACS imaging, diagnosis is done in a more efficient manner.
The latest PACS method which is becoming popular is the Orthopedic PACS. With the help of orthopedic PACS, the surgeon can adjust images and can compare and view implant templates in its true size resulting in improved pre surgical planning and consultation.
In today?s world, imaging is playing a major part in the health care system and PACS based radiology reading rooms are gaining prominence. The radiology departments of health care institutions and hospitals are now able to use filmless, soft-copy readings instead of the earlier hard-copy readings, which were time consuming and inaccurate and to facilitate this, radiology reading rooms are fast evolving and are being improvised to make them fully digital reading environments.
