Art Gifts

Saturday, October 3rd, 2009

I love everything to do with art and craft and always ask for art gifts when people enquire as to what I would like for my birthday. Sometimes I get crafts that other people have made, some of my friends make wonderful things and sometimes I get art supplies. I think that having a gift that someone, has taken the time and effort to make for you is the most wonderful thing. I always look at the items that I have been given and think about the person that made it for me and how they must have worked hard getting it to look perfect. I do enjoy getting artist materials as well though because they are just the best things for me to start to play with. I find that having a new packet of paints, pencils, paper or whatever, always inspires me to try something new but a bit different. It is great fun experimenting with new styles, subjects or mediums. I am not good at all of them, but unless I try them, I have no idea whether I like or dislike them and whether I am good at them or not. Roll on my next birthday!

Stylish and functional cell phone accessories

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

Bought a stylish phone; now go hunting for all the accessories like cases, chargers, holsters, antennas, hands free headsets, screen protectors and more, some of which will provide protection and some will enhance the phone experience. Cell phone case is the most basic requirement as it protects your phone from natural elements and can even give a stylish look. Whether you have a blackberry, Motorola, Nokia, HTC, you will find all kinds of cell phone cases to suit your taste and requirements. There are aluminum case, leather case and even designer cell phone cases. There are some water resistant ones which snug your phone tightly and protect your cell from water.

There are many types of cell phone chargers available and one should choose depending on the usage of the phone. Most common is the plug-in wall charger. There are car chargers to charge your phone in the vehicle, trickle phone chargers which lets you use the phone even while charging without burning the battery, desktop cell phone chargers which can hold the phone as well as battery. Three are some solar powered chargers also available though very limited which can come in handy in case you are not near a power source. Additionally, in case you are traveling outside US, you also need to buy a plug adapter.

Painting

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

I have just been looking through a book of artworks which includes a lot of famous Monet paintings. I have not looked at Monet’s works for while, not since I studied him at school and I had almost forgotten how lovely his work is. I love the water lilies as they show such a peaceful scene and the harvest scenes which just bring memories of summer sunshine. I especially love the poppy fields as they are beautiful. Looking at these paintings makes me think that I should really start to do some more painting myself. I have done some oil painting reproductions in the past and it would be great to do some again. Of course Monet’s works are watercolours but I am happy to see what I can do with oils as watercolour is not my thing. I am sure that I cannot recreate his works exactly using a different medium but I think that it would be really good fun to give it a try and see how it comes out. I can always paint over it if it is not that good! I always used to find it a very relaxing thing to do and I should really be making more time for my hobbies, so perhaps I will give it a go later on.
